Mafalduh : @Nevlong so you would rather do to them what they’d have gladly (and easily what with their nonexistent/actually terrifying laws) done to you? How does that make us better than them? I thought we were meant to start a new and BETTER era with “our” win… also how about you come and tell me how much of a vacation village Azkaban is when you’ll have actually been there? (which I hope you never do even as a visitor). Improving what was effectively a TORTURE hall does not make it a vacation village. Any prison no matter how “pretty” (it’s still not pretty) or comfortable (I don’t hear that it is) is still a prison and therefore, yes when handing out extremely severe sentences it seems important to me to remember the prisoners are human and deserve a fair treatment as they're gonna stay there for the REST OF THEIR LIVES (so, yeah kudos to the refurbishers). (My post didn't quite apply to "dark wizards who killed and tortured dozens of people for the past five years", though I do not personally, believe in the death penalty). 2 0 30 more_horiz

I was talking about wanting to execute them all, which yes, in my opinion, IS stooping to their hideous level. My being against the death penalty is another matter, I just don’t believe anyone should ever have someone else’s life in their hands and that applies to murderers' lives as well, yes. Idk someone once told me about something called “the high road”? I’m not saying all of them deserve mercy but showing it to them nonetheless does show how we as a society are better than what came before us, that we did not defeat them only to perpetrate the same/other injustices. I’m not saying they should all be free or not pay for they crimes at all, yes they’ve (most of them) done horrible things (and yes I wish Lestrange hadn’t ran away because he does deserve to be put away forever in prison for all he’s done)(but see there’s a gradation to be done not everyone is as bad as he is) but that does not mean we get to treat them like lesser beings. Some are young and deserve another chance. We can’t pretend we’re oh-so-superior, when we have GOT to know it’s not just about morals. Some people chose their side for other reasons than actual belief in all that hatred and bigotry. Again, I’m not saying they should all be let go, after all they’ve made their beds whatever their reasons, I’m just saying dehumanising them is not helping, and what would help some is indeed to let them have hope that a future is possible, that freedom is possible. Not all of them deserve to rot in jail (not to mention I don’t suppose you agree with the outcome of ALL trials Neville, you do agree some people have been wrongfully put away, right? Some people that weren’t even deatheaters but fighting on OUR side?) too bad you can’t understand me Neville, but it seems pretty straight forward to me. Standing up for those who can’t is part of why we fought at hogsmeade and before that, is it not?
